International Polar Year

EISCAT is participating in the International Polar Year in a number of ways, including operations as part of the ICESTAR/IHY co-ordination. The principal operation is a continuous operation of the EISCAT Svalbard Radar covering the entire IPY. The observing mode(s) include field-aligned profiles from below 100 to 500km altitude and 30+ hour local area scans (for electrical field measurements) every two weeks. User input on modes and objectives is always welcome.

Trans-National Access

EISCAT has been awarded funding under the European Union's 6th Framework Trans-National Access program which is available to fund scientists to visit and operate the EISCAT radars.
